DR. SAID JACOB, M.D. M.P.H.

Founder; Senior Psychiatrist

Dr. Said Jacob, MD is a Psychiatrist, who has over 30 years post residency experience in mental health.  He specializes in the treatment of Depression, affective/mood disorders, Schizophrenia, Attention Deficit Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorders, Anxiety, Alcohol Dependency, Chemical Dependency and Geriatric Disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.  He is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine as well as a member of the American Psychiatric Association.  He is currently on staff on the Gero-Psychiatric Program at Glendora Community Hospital in Glendora, Ca., and current Associate Medical Director of all Adult Services at Aurora Charter Oak Psychiatric Hospital in Covina.  Dr. Jacob practices in a multiplicity of treatment settings that include inpatient, partial day, outpatient and nursing homes.  He is fluent in Arabic.

DR. GHADA O. AL-ASADI, M.D.

Psychiatrist

Dr. Ghada Al-Asadi is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry.  She is recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and has experience in research and teaching.  In her 30 years of post-residency practice, Dr. Al-Asadi has specialized in treating mood and anxiety disorders, Schizophrenia, Attention Deficit Disorders, and psychiatric disorders of elderly, including Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia.  She is currently the Chief of Staff at Aurora Charter Oak Psychiatric Hospital in Covina, Ca and also the Director of Women’s Psychiatric Services.  Dr. Al-Asadi practices in a multiplicity of treatment settings that include inpatient, partial day, outpatient and nursing homes.  She is fluent in Arabic.

DR. TAGHRID SIDHOM, M.D.

Psychiatrist

Dr. Taghrid Sidhom is a Psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of Depression, Schizophrenia, Attention Deficit, Anxiety, Geriatric Disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.  She is currently on staff at Aurora Charter Oak, Glendora Community, and Doctors Hospital.  Dr. Sidhom practices in a multiplicity of treatment that include inpatient, partial day, outpatient and nursing homes.  She is fluent Arabic and French.

STEVE YANG, MSN, NP-C, PMHNP-BC

Nurse Practitioner

Steve is double Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Across the Lifespan). He completed his PMHNP certification at National University, FNP and master's degree at Charles R Drew University, and bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California (USC).  He now focuses on providing compassionate mental health services for Depression, ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Bipolar Disorders, Schizophrenia, and mood disorders for all age groups in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He is on staff at Glendora Hospital, Emanate Inter-Community Hospital and Queen of the Valley Hospital, and Foothill Presbyterian Hospital. He is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese. 

DR. CLARENCE LEUNG, PHD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Clarence Leung, PhD is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experiences helping children, adolescents, adults, couples and families from diverse ethnic backgrounds who manage challenges presented in life.  A published author and former adjunct faculty of Azusa Pacific University, Dr. Leung delights in integrating the latest research findings in clinical practice and has presented his attachment research in national and local professional conferences.  His clinical focus blends major theoretical frameworks into practical tools that empower clients to thrive through their behavioral, emotional, relational and spiritual difficulties.  Dr. Leung has clinical privileges at Aurora Charter Oak Hospital and welcomes clients from all walks of life.  He is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.

DR. RACHEL HAHM, PSYD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Rachel Hahm, PsyD is a graduate of the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant University, Los Angeles.  Dr. Hahm is a licensed psychologist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adults and families.  She has extensive experience serving populations in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, cultural and identity issues, grief and loss, relationship issues, and chronic pain.  Dr. Hahm draws from a variety of theoretical orientations and therapy approaches to tailor to the unique needs of each client.

SASINEE JADE BHOSAI, N.P.

Nurse Practitioners

Jade is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in Psychiatric-Mental Health (Across the Lifespan). She had over 8 years experience as an RN in areas such as Trauma and Psychiatric nursing prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. She also has a degree in MSN/ED specializing in Nursing Education, where she was a clinical instructor at Fresno State University's School of Nursing. Her education includes: B.A. degree from UC Berkeley in Legal Studies, a B.S.N. degree from the University of Rochester in New York, and completed her PMHNP education at Azusa Pacific University. She is also a part of the international honors society of nursing, Sigma Theta Tau. She has experience as a psychiatric provider in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with ages and conditions across the lifespan. 

NAWAL LOTFY, L.M.F.T.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Nawal Lotfy, M.F.T. is a graduate from the University of La Verne in the Marriage and Family Therapy program.  She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in the treatment of adults, children, adolescents, and families.  She has extensive training in treating patients in the areas of Depression, Addiction & EAP, Anxiety, grief or loss, cultural differences, family issues, behavioral issues and trauma.  She conducts her practice treating patients using cognitive behavioral therapy and can provide services in the Arabic language.

VASAVI CHARATHRAM, L.M.F.T.

Licensed  Marriage Family Therapist 

Vasavi Charathram is a Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. She has an MS in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles and completed her internship at Aurora Charter Oak Hospital in Covina. Vasavi is also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained therapist. Vasavi specializes in the treatment of children, couples and families, and practices in a multiplicity of settings providing group and individual counseling sessions. In additon to  English, Vasavi is fluent in Hindi and Tamil, and she has a basic understanding of spoken Spanish. 

MARY SARKIS, CLMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a graduate of the Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena,  Mary Sarkis is trained in the integration of psychotherapy and spirituality.   Ms. Sarkis has extensive experience in treating children and adolescents with severe behavior problems, familial substance abuse, family violence, self-destructive behaviors and issues related to parenting and step-parenting.  In addition to providing individual, marital and family therapy, Ms. Sarkis has expertise in treating Bipolar Disorder, Personality Disorders and disability issues that affect individuals and their families, such as Multiple Sclerosis, and other auto-immune diseases.  Specializes and runs “Girl Talk” a successful psychotherapy group for teen girls.

DR. CARMEN GARABET, R.N., PSY.D.

Dr. Carmen Garabet, RN, PsyD. is a licensed psychologist, graduate of the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant University, Los Angeles. She started her career caring for others in her late teens as a medical and surgical nurse and became an RN at age 23. She specialized and worked as an emergency room RN. There she discovered her passion and the need of mental health care in patients she dealt with. In 1996, after 7 years of service as a nurse, she decided to officially pursue a career in psychology. Dr. Garabet's interest is caring for patients with anxiety, depression and adjustment disorders. She is a member in good standing with the American Psychological Association and the CAlifornia Psychological Association.  She is fluent in Spanish. 

DR. KARUN GOGNA, M.D.

Psychiatrist

Dr. Karun Gogna was raised on Los Angeles.  He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine in developmental and cell biology.  He then matriculated to the University of California Irvine School of Medicine where he completed his medical education.  Dr. Gogna was eager to return to Los Angeles and serve his community for residency.  He completed his postgraduate training at the LA County + USC Medical Center and Keck Hospital of USC in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.  Dr. Gogna then entered private practice and joined the well-established group of Dr. Jacob and Associates. With an interest in psychopharmacology, addiction medicine, and psychotherapy, Dr. Gogna has begun working in numerous settings providing care to individuals suffering from a variety of mental illnesses from diverse demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds. His practice involves providing care in the following settings" inpatient, outpatient, gero-psych, telehealth, nursing homes and addiction rehabilitation. Dr. Gogna strives to improve an individual's mental, emothioanl, and social functioning to increase one's quality of life as an individual as well as a memeber of their family and community. 

DR. EMILY K. ACKERMAN, M.D.

 

Psychiatrist

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Emily Ackerman completed her undergraduate studies in English from UCLA, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.  Upon completion, she began pre-med coursework while earning her MFA in screenwriting from UCLA.  After her graduate studies in the humanities, Dr. Ackerman began her medical school at the UC Irvine School of Medicine where she was first exposed to psychiatry in a clinical setting and found her true calling.  She completed her residency training in general psychiatry at Harbor-UCLA and subsequently completed an additional year of training in adolescent inpatient psychiatry at USC.  Her clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD and trauma, women's mental health, LGBTQ mental health, adolescent mental health, inpatient psychiatry, supportive and insight-oriented therapy, and psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy.  In her spare time, Dr. Acckerman enjoys attending indie rock concerts, collecting vintage furniture, as well as spending time with her family and two cats, Stevie and Bandit. 

DR. RONALD E. SALEM, PSYD

 

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Ronald E. Salem, PsyD is a graduate of the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program at Nova University in Florida.  In 1985, he came to Southern California as one of the six nationally selected interns for Orange County’s only APA – accredited internship program at Child Guidance Centers.  Dr. Salem also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Ohio State, as well as a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Nova University.  Dr. Salem is an authority on the emotional disorders of children, adolescents and adults, developmental disabilities, learning disorders, ADHD/ADD and family treatment.  He specializes in Psychological Testing and differential diagnosis.  He is a member in good standing with the American Psychological Association, California Psychological Association and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.

LORENA L. FUENTES MSN, PHN, PMHNP-BC

 

Nurse Practitioner

 

Lorena is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner who specialized in Psychiatric-Mental Health (Across the Lifespan). Her education includes: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, Public Health Nursing Certification, Master of Science in Nursing from West Coast University, California, and lastly, completed her PMHNP education from University of Cincinnati, Ohio. She has over 9 years of experience as a RN in areas such  as medical-surgical, home health, providing rehabilitation to spinal cord injury patients and Psychiatric nursing prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. While Lorena was completing her NP program, she was using her MSN as a clinical instructor at West Coast University School of Nursing. Lorena has experience as a Nurse Practitioner provider in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient and outpatient settings across the lifespan. She is fluent in Spanish. 

 

JEROMY ASIDO, NP, PMHNP-BC

 

Nurse Practitioner

 

Jeromy Asido PMHNP-BC is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program, and has multiple experiences in different fields. He achieved top honors in his class as a Nurse Practitioner, as well as a Registered Nurse. He finished his Bachelor's Degree from Azusa Pacific University and has worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field. He has treated a wide spectrum of psychotic disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety, and ADHD. He is particularly interested in Geriatric Psychiatry and is interested in Nursing Home consultations. He also worked in crisis stabilization settings in inpatient, ER, and Mental health urgent care settings. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree in Nursing Practice. Jeromy believes that with proper mentorship and guidance, children can overcome mental illness, identify symptoms, and cope with life stress. 

 

STEPHANIE M. EILAND  MSN, PMHNP-BC

 

Nurse Practitioner

 

Stephanie is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in Psychiatric-Mental Health (Across the Lifespan). She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles and began working in the mental health field as a recreational therapist. Shen then moved into the nursing field and completed her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing degrees at Azusa Pacific University specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health. She has worked with all age groups in the inpatient, outpatient, telehealth, and nursing home settings. She enjoys working collaboratively with clients and family members to provide psychiatric assessment, medication, and education to those with mental health and substance use disorders. 

DR. PATRICIA DEL VALLE Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Patricia Del Valle , Psy.D., is a graduate of the California School of Professional Psychology in Alhambra, Ca.  Dr. Del Valle is a licensed Psychologist who has extensive experience in the areas of individuals, couples, and family psychotherapy.  Dr. Del Valle works all types of patients in the treatment of Depression, mood disorders, anxiety, and specialized in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder using EMDR.  Dr. Del Valle is fluent in Spanish and can offer therapy in Spanish. 

JOHN G. CUMMINGS, MSN, PMHNP-BC

 

Nurse Practitioner

John G. cummings is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who completed his education at Azusa Pacific University.  Prior to pursuing a career in healthcare, John served in the U.S. Army and is a combat veteran.  John has over 12 years of healthcare experience working his way up from Emergency Medical Technician to Registered Nurse to Nurse Practitioner.  John has inpatient experience as a psychiatric RN at adult and dual-diagnosis psychiatric hospitals along with experience working with child/adolescent and geriatric populations at UCLA Health Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital.  His diverse healthcare experience has provided a unique opportunity to work with patients during all phases of the mental health continuum.  John provides professional psychiatry services in inpatient, outpatient and nursing home settings with a passion for special populations including veterans, child/adolescent, perinatal, geriatric, and dual-diagnosis.
